This special issue of Arts & Health seeks to help fill the current evidence gap by presenting a number of studies that contribute to a nuanced understanding of the relationship between cultural heritage engagement and a range of health and well-being outcomes. .
Expansion of this evidence base is crucial if museums, and the wider cultural sector, are to demonstrate their value to society in the health and well-being arena, but considerable opportunities, as well as challenges, exist for such organisations and their audiences if they choose to adapt and expand their offerings..
