Abstract Photovoltaic (PV) systems have potential for multi-functional and aesthetic urban applications to mitigate the need of centralized, remote, and singular-use solar farms. Proper site and contextual analysis can inform the utilization of design principles and layout strategies for PV arrays. This chapter explores the application of design principles and site design strategies for three types of urban PV systems, including Building Adopted Photovoltaics (BAPV), ground mounted systems, and canopy mounted systems.
