Abstract The artistic practices of a participatory nature in contemporary art have led to their being constituted as catalysts for sociabilization per se. Their methods to activate the audience, the collaborative processual methodologies and the levels of public involvement can be extremely different. The objective of this article is to analyze different procedures of contemporary artistic praxis under participatory postulates of socialization. Different participative typologies are defined endorsed by artists works. Additionally, reflections are offered about the change of the role of the artist and the public, the split of the object creation, the social impact that they can generate and its aesthetic value. © 2020 Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
