Abstract Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by the architect Frank O. Gehry, is one of the most emblematic architectural works of the recent turn of the century. Twenty years since its opening, this paper explores its relevance for the generation of spatial transformation apparatus in the conformation of a new urban cultural zone. The particularity of Guggenheim Bilbao, is understanding its architecture as an apparatus that promotes the production of new forms of urbanity through urban social practices that combine strategic and tactical characteristics. © 2018 Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
