Abstract Age of initiation of drug use is closely associated with the risk of developing drug dependence or abuse. Effective programmes are needed to prevent adolescents from using drugs at an early age. The aim of this intervention programme was to prevent adolescents from using illegal drugs by using drama in education (DIE) to convey a universal prevention strategy.

The aim of this intervention programme was to prevent adolescents from using illegal drugs by using drama in education to convey a universal prevention strategy. as shown in figure participants were eighth-grade students aged years from junior high schools in new taipei city. the students received information about the study were assured that participation was volun- tary and were told their privacy and confidentiality rights. the teacher and participants in the experimental group were asked to complete teaching diaries and reflecting sheets for each session respectively. our results suggest that general health education classes combined with tpb-based drama education has more beneficial effects in terms of changes in attitudes subjective norms pbc and bi regarding illegal drug use.
